I do not intend to hold a view on this matter as it would be unfair on the anti-kilt wearers. However, since we are on the subject of kilt wearing I thought it would be a good idea to look for guidance on how the various Scottish regiments, who bravely fought and died for our freedom, dealt with the difficult subject of what to wear when travelling? Unfortunately, I can't find any evidence of what they wore when travelling to battle, must have been shorts or something like that, so no guidance for us in that respect! However, the Sottish regiments did wear their kilts with pride in the first World War on the battle fields where they spent months in filthy conditions putting up with disease trench foot, lice, rats, Germans and death and did they complain about their kilts being uncomfortable?
My fives minutes of research on wearing a kilt has revealed that,
- It is a very practical garment to wear in battle, since you didn't have to unbutton numerous buttons to go to pee pee which occupied your hands (hand) for that time, making you vulnerable to attack.
- Fives minutes what do you expect!
